Frequently Asked Questions

Most customers will not complain. Of those who do complain, they always have the option to pay by cash or check! As the cost of accepting credit cards continues to go up, more businesses are opting to use the cash discount program. The customer is used to seeing this program as it has been in place for decades at their local stations!
The final verdict on cash discount programs can be found in the Durbin Amendment 2 (part of the 2010 Dodd-Frank law), which states that businesses are permitted to offer a discount to customers as an incentive and to encourage customers to pay by alternative methods other than a credit/debit cards. Such alternative methods include checks or cash in order to receive a discount which is applied at the time of sale.
When you charge you customer a flat fee for your product or service on your own, it is considered a surcharge. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express forbid any business from doing surcharging without taking the necessary steps to get approved. It is an exceedingly difficult process. When you implement the Cash Discount Program you will be offering a discount for cash which will be automated by our equipment to make sure it is done properly. Secondly it is illegal for you and your business to profit off a credit card transaction, which could happen if you charge a client more than you get charged by your processor to accept the transaction.
If you are still under contract with your current provider that is okay! The amount you will save by using the cash discount program usually covers that cancellation fee in just one month!
On a case by case basis we can work with you to negotiate a fee that you can split with your clients (between 1-4%) if you feel the need to do so.
